So many of us live a life much more sedate than we know is healthy for us, and we resolve to get moving in the New Year. In order for our New Year’s Resolution work, to not just get moving, but to KEEP moving, we need to pick an activity that is not so tough we get discouraged and that is fun enough to make us want to do it more. Ballroom dance lessons are a perfect solution for this resolution. One of the first things you learn in ballroom dance is that the basic elements are EASY; you do them EVERY day; and if you can do them, you CAN learn to dance.
For our New Year’s Resolution to get fit and get moving, ballroom dance is perfect because you are learning a skill that you can apply outside your lessons in social situations rather than simply exercise for exercise sake. When you dance at a party, you get exercise, but your primary goal is to mix and mingle with others and have fun. When your New Year’s Resolution is achievable through pleasurable activity, you are more likely to continue and reap the benefits you desire.
The very first thing you learn on your first ballroom dance lesson is that one of these most basic steps is walking forward. Just regular, everyday walking movement. So, get up, put one foot in front of the other, and walk, run, skip, or sidle on to your first dance lesson to start your year off right!
Introductory packages start at $35, but if you know someone who comes to the studio, you can save $20 and help that person out by giving them a free private lesson in return! An Introductory Dance Lesson makes a wonderful gift! Guest night begins Thursday at 7pm. It’s not too late to start your new life of better health, happiness, and expression today.
If you are a student, please help someone take that first step forward to a better future by taking that first step with them by bringing them to guest night.
Happy New Year, everyone! See you soon!
