Valentine’s Day is about taking the time to express love and appreciation to those we care about. While Valentine’s day seems to be about a significant other, a partner, it should be about everyone we love. And we definitely should not leave ourselves out. Whether you have a partner or you are unattached, the best gift you can give is the gift of dance lessons.

For couples, partner dance can be one of the most romantic gifts you can give. Ballroom dance allows each person to focus and attend to the other person in ways they simply do not and cannot off the dance floor. Yet the skills we learn on the dance floor make us better partners everywhere.
Allowing your partner to lead you without judgment or help allows him to become a better leader. Your trust in him and his ability can give him the confidence and support that that makes for a stronger relationship.
Learning how to become a better communicator on the dance floor by really tuning into your partner and learning how to indicate what you would like her to do without undo force allows her to have more faith in you and in herself. Your partnership becomes a better, healthier partnership as you both allow for each other to become better versions of yourselves.
For the time you are dancing together, all of your other thoughts and worries take a back seat. Therefore, you focus on each other. Moving to the music, creating the dance together. This is real romance, making dance lessons a perfect Valentine’s Day gift.
If you have no partner, you, should not be left out on Valentine’s Day! Your dance teacher can be your partner, and everyone dances with everyone else at our practice parties.
You should not wait for a partner to dance if you want to dance. If you have had a dream to dance, do it. Do not defer your dream. If you are more authentically and joyfully yourself, you will more easily attract a partner that is suited to the person you want to be.
So, whether you have a Valentine this February or not, make a date to come out and try dancing. Make a date with your special someone or make a date to treat yourself. Spread the word. Dance brings us together.S
